To Master Holbright

Honoured Sir

I had hoped to wait until my plans were closer to fruition before presenting them to you but feel that I should share what I have learned so far. I have been engaged in developing my aunt's business in fine fabrics and embroideries to make contacts at court that might permit closer observation of other activities there. The process has been satisfactory if slow so far.

However on my last visit to Lady Margaret Westonbirt, to display samples and seek commissions, I discovered that her friend, Lady Anne Mortgrave, has a maidservant who shows signs of being enlightened. That being so, I thought it important to share this information in case the woman, one Juliet, is already known to you and you may have any advice as to how I should approach her.

In the meantime I shall continue with the commission I have for Lady Margaret.

Respectfully

Katharine Gardiner
